Covering a dome

I've prepared a web page with some diagrams that show one possible way to cover a dome with tarps together with some brief text. This isn't the only way to cover a dome. But it is the method I use.

If you're thinking of using a parachute, be sure to read this first:

Thinking of building a dome still? A 1v can be built easily in an afternoon. A 2v is doable in a day if you are handy.

Covering domes with tarps:
I leave a hole at the top and that allows good ventillation during the day. I have a 10' square tarp I pull on and off with one of its corner ropes to cover the center at night and open it during the day.

Covering a dome requires climbing onto the dome. Step only at verticies -- *never in the middle of a strut* -- and it helps if you aren't wearing tight pants... This is not a job for someone with short legs, but actually, climing on the dome is easy and safe and I have never fallen off or through one. You can even climb on the dome when it has tarps on it. Just step lightly and slide your foot until you feel a vertex, then apply your weight.
