saw the vid.
Neat as a pin! ... as far as concept, design, engineering goes.
Maybe would have apps for military or some commercial use where a quick setup and ready, then quick takedown is important for regular daily use.

But to use this for one week per year would probably price more than cost-effective.

That's a lovely thing, but I would want something rated well over 70mph for burning man. It does look like it requires a rather high level of manufacturing input, tho.

Love the trailer full of amenities idea.

So I used to go to BM with just myself, and my Wildernest camper. Marriage, and several small children later, camping anywhere is a different game.

I DON'T want an RV. These move a large block of air down the road, and frankly are always cramped inside.

So what does one really want in a Camper?
Power, Water (Some. Kitchen and shower minimum), Kitchen, sleeping space, shower, some storage space, and of course shelter.

My idea for years (Drawings, models, etc), has been a 5 x 8 trailer where the one side folds down a counter and long table for an L shaped kitchen. Gas fridge, stove, sink, etc. The other side would be a fold out bed, similar to a sofa sleeper. An accordian tent cover would go over the bed.
Shower is instant hot water heater and pump, ($125 last time I looked), and would go off the front area of the trailer. Water filters used at BM have shown me that 10 gal and a filter can be used many times before you need to change the water.
Let the RV stuff you need/want fold out of the trailer, and live outside the trailer, not cramped in one.

So that left shelter.
My idea has been a 30ft umbrella dome.
It would go up on a telescopic pole (Similar to the light towers that put up lights at construction sites. http://www.powermfgco.com/ ).
Umbrella would open, then come down, resting on the ground.
Each "Rib" of the umbrella would be a truss to hold up the total structure.

Goal would be to have something that could go up with one, (maybe two) people in 15 min. (Try doing things with 4 children under 5 running around).
Most folks thought I was crazy.
Then I saw this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSUWp193zQg
This is a 52ft umbrella tent. Rated to 70MPH
The trailer that hauls it and put it up drives out leaving a clear span tent.
I'm thinking the same idea looks better and better for a 30ft umbrella camper that goes up with a winch.

Am I still crazy ??
