So this year I have hopes to keep my crew on the ground (and thus more of them working) by building from the top Down.. I'd like to use something that I can revive from some other life.. My dome is a 15' high when done and weighs about 400lbs by my estimates..

Best Ideas so far...

old parking lot light pole.
Extention ladder..

Any Suggestions..

have you heard of a pullzall? its a portable, hand held winch with an anchoring strap and 1000 lbs load rating for about $300 ( i think). With one of those and a big pole (like you were saying) you could have yourself a crane. I'm planing to make a trailer hitch attachment for this purpose

Most tools rental places have beam lifts. I saw a small crew put together a large dome using one of them. You will want to check the load rating on the lift if you go this route. e
