My budget is running out. I still need to buy fabric/material of some kind. In all of your collective experience, knowing you get what you pay for, what material will MINIMALLY work for the CHEAPEST price.

Re: Absolute cheapest shade structur material.
Thu, August 4, 2005 - 1:20 PMCoscto sells tarps. Two tarps, 12' x 14' each cost about $16. This is a great deal on tarps. You'd need three tarps to fully cover an optimal 2v dome, so maybe you can find a friend who would like one tarp for shade cover in their camp and split one package with them. -

Thu, August 4, 2005 - 1:21 PMTo clarify, you get both tarps for $16 -- they aren't $16 for each tarp. -

Thu, August 4, 2005 - 1:42 PMSo the tarps are strong enough? And they come pre-grommeted, so that's a good thing too. Are they the blue or silver ones? -

Re: Absolute cheapest shade structur material.
Thu, August 4, 2005 - 6:58 PMThey are blue on one side and silver on the other. I find silver outside is better than blue outside, but you can try it both ways, or set them up to suite your aesthetic tastes. These tarps are actually much heavier than the tarps they sell at Home Depot and other places -- they are excellent tarps with reinforced grommets that don't pull out. I recommend bungle balls and/or cords to attach them, but if you are short on money, you can do it with rope cut into lengths too.
