Hello Geodesic Geeks,
First, thanks for your advice regarding our 32' 4v conduit dome. It was a smashing success and we can't wait to rock out on the playa.
Now that we have the dome assembled, I was wondering if people had any creative ideas about how to attach things like lights to the dome. We used 2" bolts so that there is enough bolt left to attach another nut/washers and I was thinking about making some brackets out of angle iron or something. There is also the possibility of using the < > type clamps as used to mount lighting to truss/poles/etc, but I thought those might be too wide or otherwise not ideal for mounting to thin pipe (3/4 inch) Does anybody have any experience mounting lights (like intelligent lights , spotlights, moving heads etc) to conduit domes? Any advice?
I was also wondering about acoustics and if anybody has advice on speaker placement inside a round structure. We have 2 tops and 1 bottom and are looking at different ways to arrange them.
Any other general advice about sound/lights would be appreciated. We are making a PIC microcontroller-based LED lighting array to light the dome, using 1w luxeon LEDs in RGB clusters to do color mixing. I will share some more info on this as the project moves along.
Peace!
