So, you like Buckminster Fuller's ideas? How about his nose?
Several years ago I created a geodesic structure in the shape
of Bucky's nose. I have brought it to Burning Man each year
for the last three years.
There's a web site about this art creation at:
www.timefold.com/nose
Two years ago, Bucky's great-granddaughter came to Burning Man
and found me in the Desert Nose. In a short conversation she
confided that she was blown away that she was sitting inside a
geodesic replica of her great grandfather's nose. Um, perhaps
a poor choice of words, but she did enjoy it. ;-)
You might too. If you go to Burning Man, we are trying to
return to the 3:00 plaza again this year.
What's inside? Well, we have a giant fan, and several
industrial sprayers. We put people in front of the fan and
spray them with water and steal all their excess body heat.
Most people have had enough after about 20 seconds. We call
the effect a "coolgasm."
Also inside is a lot of seating and a steady supply of thoughtful chill-space music.
My camp and I set up the nose, and then spend all week
heckling hot people and getting them to come in and get cooled
off. I think Bucky would have been pleased. :-)
Peace,
Howard
