I just bought some land in Oregon (way out in in middle of nowhere, not on any normal grids), and am considering some different housing options. One that looks a little more solid and warm than a Yurt is a Geodome type of house. Is anyone on this tribe living in a dome year round? Know anything about permanent structures, such as this one I saw in a newspaper article last weekend?

Is it possible to take the metal construction framework such as that at Burningman and create a viable house around it? Just curious as to whether or not anyone has experience with this, especially in colder climates (it snows where I bought the land).

Re: Living in a Geodome Year Round?
Sat, March 17, 2007 - 7:44 AMWinter doming is the best you will like it ..although you may have to build somethinga bit more significant than a metal tube frame dome...The domes here at Domecounty are all heated with stoves that use wood for fuel..The domes are quite effecient ,winter presents few problems for us in fact we eagerly await it each fall knowing its a time we spend creating and designing our projects for the coming year ...oh yeah Going Dome is the only way sis!
