    This is actually an older approach than "Geodesics" -- bamboo dome/hut structures have been built in asia for some time.

    It's more of a 'basket weave" approach than the strut-and-hub construction we tend to think of. Refer to any illustration of "Great Circles" (usually less than the 'full load' Fuller often drew), and you could also be looking at the diagram of the structural supports of some of these bamboo dome/hut structures.

      I'm kind of curious if anyone has done or knows of any reasonable history of tensile structures as a technology and cultural phenomenon... in tools or architecture?
