Re: bamboo & geodesics
Tue, January 27, 2004 - 2:37 AMThis is actually an older approach than "Geodesics" -- bamboo dome/hut structures have been built in asia for some time.
It's more of a 'basket weave" approach than the strut-and-hub construction we tend to think of. Refer to any illustration of "Great Circles" (usually less than the 'full load' Fuller often drew), and you could also be looking at the diagram of the structural supports of some of these bamboo dome/hut structures.

Re: bamboo & geodesics
Fri, May 14, 2004 - 4:57 PMI have a bamboo page on my website at
www.desertdomes.com/bamboo.html
I haven't actually tried it, but I thought it might be cool to put on the web. It came out of Domebook One or Two. I don't remember which.

Re: bamboo & geodesics
Tue, June 1, 2004 - 1:15 AMI'm kind of curious if anyone has done or knows of any reasonable history of tensile structures as a technology and cultural phenomenon... in tools or architecture?
